John Carter Cash

John William Gallery is pleased to add John Carter Cash to its roster of artists this year. Further, we have the distinct honor to be debuting his work at this year’s Art Miami, December 2 – 7, booth 422.

John Carter Cash paints from the heart. His abstract drawings pulse with energy—bold, organic forms in rich, saturated jewel tones evoke influences from Picasso, Basquiat, or Rothko. Yet, it is evident upon first glance, John Carter Cash commands his own unique style and form. Holding no set rules, vivid shapes glide and collide across the picture plane; their movement interrupted by thick contoured lines and symbolic markings that hint at inner spiritual precincts and rhythms, a visual echo of his musical sensitivities.

Each work feels both spontaneous and intentional, a synthesis of gesture, color, and composition that reflects his lifelong dialogue between sound, word, and image. His “Pato’s Rainbow” series with recurring characters lay bare the inspirations, grievances, failures, and successes of not only his own life, but to the universal human experience. His “Dark Hallways” oil on canvas series reflects past, present, and future journeys in life, pulling the viewer into a deeper connection to the evident mystery that unites human consciousness and impels us all forward. John Carter Cash’s extensive body of work comprising oils, pastels, charcoal, and acrylics represents years of painting and drawing in his studio. John William Gallery has only recently discovered this treasure trove of artistic expression and is thrilled to debut Cash’s work because of their relevance to contemporary art narratives and staying power of the imagery.

While not painting, John Carter Cash is a music and film producer (winner of two Grammy Awards), a singer-songwriter and author, with eight published books, two biographies, three children’s books, a novel and a cookbook. He owns and operates Cash Cabin Enterprises, LLC in Hendersonville, Tennessee, and does most of his music production work in the Cash Cabin Studio, the same studio where his father recorded hundreds of songs, years ago. He is married to entertainer, songwriter, and author Ana Cristina Cash and father to five children.
