Hannah Robinett

John William Gallery is pleased to add Hannah Robinett to its roster of artists this year.

Artist Statement:

My practice is rooted in the search for emotional and spiritual meaning through creating. I explore the mind's desire for healing through the complexities of my own lived experiences, allowing each work to become a space where stillness, clarity, and renewal can emerge. Viewers are invited to contemplate this tension between order and chaos within the context of their own lives

The grid is a central metaphor in my work. It serves as an anchor of imposed order and desired perfection, against which the erratic chaos of human feelings are measured. This structural device, often shaped through precise hand-cutting or meticulously painting, draws upon my background in graphic design. Utilizing materials like paper, paint, and gold leaf, I articulate the tension between perfection and process. Personal notes or text fragments often appear throughout my work, functioning as an intimate entry point toward healing.

Each piece is a carefully realized visual metaphor, where the physical outcome is an active part of the idea. The interplay between material precision and emotional openness forms the conceptual core of my practice. My work invites viewers to consider how experiences, patterns, and beliefs shape their inner lives. In articulating these tensions, I offer a visual space where contemplation, grounding, and renewal can coexist.
